# Use AI to Generate Inspection Findings from Photos

> Let InspectIQ analyze your inspection photos and automatically suggest findings—complete with titles, descriptions, and severity ratings.

InspectIQ's AI-Generated Findings feature takes the heavy lifting out of writing up what you found on-site. After you capture photos during an inspection, InspectIQ's computer vision engine analyzes each image and suggests findings—including a title, a plain-language description, and a recommended severity level. You stay in control: every suggestion is yours to accept, edit, or discard before it ever appears in a client report.

## What Are AI-Generated Findings?

When you upload or capture photos in InspectIQ, the platform automatically processes each image and identifies potential defects, damage, or items of concern. For each issue it detects, InspectIQ proposes a **finding** that includes:

* **Title** — a short label for the issue (e.g., "Cracked Mortar at Chimney Base")
* **Description** — a plain-language explanation of what was observed
* **Severity** — an initial rating of Informational, Low, Moderate, or High

AI suggestions appear alongside your photos in the findings panel, clearly marked with an **AI** badge so you always know which items came from the assistant and which you wrote yourself.

> [!NOTE]
>
> AI suggestions are powered by computer vision trained on thousands of inspection images. Always review each suggestion carefully before including it in your report.

## How to Trigger AI Analysis

You can run AI analysis on a single photo or on an entire set of photos at once.

### Analyze a Single Photo

**1. Open the inspection**

From your **Dashboard**, tap the inspection you are working on to open it.

**2. Navigate to the area and photo**

Select the **area** (e.g., Roof, Electrical Panel) and then tap the photo you want to analyze.

**3. Tap 'Analyze with AI'**

In the photo detail view, tap the **Analyze with AI** button. InspectIQ processes the image and displays suggested findings within a few seconds.

**4. Review the suggestions**

The suggested findings appear in a slide-up panel. From here you can accept, edit, or reject each one (see the next section for details).

### Analyze All Photos in an Area

**1. Open the area**

Inside your inspection, tap the area you want to analyze (e.g., Attic).

**2. Open area options**

Tap the **⋯ More** menu in the top-right corner of the area screen.

**3. Select 'Analyze All Photos with AI'**

Tap **Analyze All Photos with AI**. InspectIQ queues every photo in the area for analysis and processes them in the background.

**4. Wait for the analysis to finish**

A progress indicator appears at the top of the screen. When all photos have been analyzed, you receive an in-app notification.

**5. Review the batch suggestions**

Tap **Review AI Suggestions** in the notification or navigate to the area's findings panel to see all proposed findings grouped by photo.

## How to Review AI Suggestions

Each AI suggestion gives you three choices: **Accept**, **Edit**, or **Reject**.

**1. Open the suggestions panel**

Navigate to the area findings panel. AI-suggested findings are listed at the top under **Pending AI Suggestions**, each with an **AI** badge.

**2. Read the suggestion**

Tap a suggestion to expand it and review the proposed title, description, and severity.

**3. Accept, edit, or reject**

Choose one of the three actions:

* **Accept** — adds the finding to your report exactly as suggested.
* **Edit** — opens the finding editor so you can adjust the title, description, severity, or attached photos before saving.
* **Reject** — dismisses the suggestion. Rejected suggestions are not added to your report and are not shown to clients.

**4. Continue until all suggestions are resolved**

Work through each pending suggestion. The counter in the **Pending AI Suggestions** header updates as you go. Once all suggestions are resolved, the panel collapses automatically.

### How Accepted Suggestions Appear in the Findings List

Once you accept or save an edited suggestion, it moves out of the pending panel and into the main findings list for that area—right alongside any findings you wrote manually. The **AI** badge remains visible in your findings list so you can track which items originated from the assistant, but the badge does **not** appear on the client-facing report.

## Accuracy Expectations

InspectIQ's AI is a powerful starting point, not a replacement for your professional judgment.

* The model is trained on a broad library of residential inspection images, so it performs best on common defects in typical residential settings.
* It may miss issues that are not clearly visible in a photo (e.g., hidden moisture damage, odors, or structural concerns that require hands-on assessment).
* It may occasionally suggest a finding that does not apply to your specific context—always reject suggestions that are inaccurate or irrelevant.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Never include AI-suggested findings in a report without personally reviewing and verifying them. As a licensed inspector, you are professionally and legally responsible for every finding in your report. AI suggestions are a drafting aid, not a substitute for your on-site assessment.

> [!TIP]
>
> You'll get the most accurate AI suggestions when your photos are clear, well-lit, and focused on the area of concern. Take photos in landscape orientation, avoid backlighting, and move in close enough that the defect fills at least a third of the frame. The better the photo, the better the suggestion.
