# Complete an Inspection and Deliver Your Final Report

> Walk through the final steps to mark an inspection complete, generate your report, preview it, and deliver a polished document to your client.

When you've visited every area, captured all your photos, and reviewed your findings, it's time to mark the inspection as complete and generate the client report. InspectIQ guides you through a pre-completion checklist to make sure nothing is missing, then lets you preview the finished report before it ever reaches your client's inbox.

## What Happens When You Mark an Inspection as Complete

Marking an inspection **Complete** does the following:

* **Locks the inspection status** — the inspection moves from *In Progress* to *Complete* in your Dashboard.
* **Triggers report generation** — InspectIQ compiles all your findings, photos, recommendations, and area summaries into a formatted report.
* **Enables delivery options** — once complete, you can preview, download (PDF), or send the report directly to your client from within the app.
* **Timestamps the report** — the completion date and time are recorded and printed on the report cover page.

The inspection remains accessible for your records and can be re-opened if you need to make changes after the fact (see [Re-opening an Inspection](#re-opening-an-inspection) below).

## Pre-Completion Checklist

Before marking complete, InspectIQ automatically checks for the following. You can also review each item manually in the **Checklist** view.

> [!TIP]
>
> Tap the **Checklist** icon at the top of your inspection overview screen before you mark it complete. The checklist gives you a color-coded summary of every requirement so you can spot and fix any gaps in seconds—without hunting through areas one by one.

| Checklist Item | What InspectIQ Checks |
| - | - |
| **All areas visited** | Every area added to the inspection has at least one photo or finding logged. |
| **Required photos captured** | Areas with mandatory photo requirements (set in your template) have the minimum number of photos. |
| **All findings reviewed** | No findings remain in *Pending AI Suggestions* or are flagged as *Unreviewed*. |
| **Payment status** | If payment collection is enabled for your account, the inspection fee has been recorded or marked as invoiced. |

> [!WARNING]
>
> Do not mark an inspection complete if any findings are still unreviewed. Unreviewed findings—especially AI-suggested ones—may contain inaccurate information. Every finding in a completed report represents your professional assessment, so confirm each one before finalizing.

## How to Complete an Inspection and Generate the Report

**1. Open the inspection**

From your **Dashboard**, tap the inspection you are ready to finalize.

**2. Run the pre-completion checklist**

Tap the **Checklist** icon at the top of the inspection overview. Review each item and resolve any that are flagged in red before proceeding.

**3. Tap 'Mark as Complete'**

Once all checklist items are green, tap the **Mark as Complete** button at the bottom of the inspection overview screen.

**4. Confirm completion**

A confirmation dialog appears summarizing the number of areas, findings, and photos in the inspection. Tap **Complete Inspection** to confirm. InspectIQ begins generating your report immediately.

**5. Wait for report generation**

Report generation typically takes 10–30 seconds. A progress bar appears on the inspection overview screen. You'll receive an in-app notification when the report is ready.

**6. Preview the report**

Tap **Preview Report** to open a full-screen preview of the finished document. Scroll through all pages to verify formatting, photos, findings, and your branding look exactly as expected.

**7. Deliver the report**

When you're satisfied with the preview, tap **Send to Client** to email the report directly from InspectIQ, or tap **Download PDF** to save a copy and send it through your preferred channel.

## Previewing the Report Before Sending

The report preview is a live render of the final document—what you see is exactly what your client receives. While in preview mode you can:

* **Scroll through all pages** to check every section.
* **Tap any finding** to jump back to the finding editor if you spot a typo or want to adjust wording. Your change re-renders automatically.
* **Check your logo and contact info** in the header and footer. Update these in **Settings → Branding** if anything looks off.
* **Share a preview link** with a colleague for a second opinion before sending to the client.

## Re-opening an Inspection

If you need to add or change a finding after marking the inspection complete, you can re-open it at any time.

**1. Open the completed inspection**

Find the inspection on your **Dashboard** (it appears under the *Completed* tab) and tap to open it.

**2. Tap 'Re-open Inspection'**

Tap the **⋯ More** menu at the top-right and select **Re-open Inspection**. The status changes back to *In Progress*.

**3. Make your changes**

Add, edit, or remove findings as needed, then run through the pre-completion checklist again.

**4. Mark complete and regenerate the report**

Follow the completion steps above. InspectIQ generates a new version of the report. If you previously sent the report to a client, notify them that a revised version is available and re-send using **Send to Client**.
