2. Choose **Business Settings**.
3. Select **Templates & Agreements** from the left-hand menu.

You'll find two main areas: **Agreement Template** and **Agreement Content**.

> [!TIP]
>
> Review your agreement content before sending your first agreement. Your wording should reflect your business practices, applicable requirements, and professional obligations.

## Agreement Templates

Agreement Templates control the document presented to clients.

InspectIQ provides a template editor where you can customize agreement wording and insert placeholders for information that changes between inspections.

### Open the Template Editor

1. Locate the **Agreement Template** section.
2. Select **Open Template Editor**.
3. You'll be taken to the **Agreement Templates** page.

Here you can view and manage your available templates.

### Create a New Template

1. Select **+ New Template**.
2. Enter a **Template Name**.
3. Optionally, enter a **Template Description**.
4. Configure the template's status.
5. Add or edit your agreement body.
6. Select **Save Template** when finished.

You can also use **Import** on the Agreement Templates page to import an existing agreement template.

### Edit an Existing Template

1. Open the **Agreement Templates** page.
2. Find the template you want to modify.
3. Select **Edit**.
4. Update the agreement content as needed.
5. Select **Save Template**.

You can also use **Delete** to remove templates you no longer need.

## Using Placeholders

Placeholders automatically insert information into your agreement using details associated with the inspection.

For example, a placeholder can represent the client's name, the property address, or other inspection-specific information.

This means you don't have to manually update these details every time you prepare an agreement.

### Insert a Placeholder

1. Open a template in the editor.
2. Position your cursor where you want the information to appear.
3. Find the appropriate placeholder in the **Placeholders** panel.
4. Select **Insert variable** for that placeholder.
5. Continue editing your agreement.

The editor organizes placeholders into groups, including company, inspector, client, property, inspection, and other agreement-related information.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Keep placeholders intact when editing your agreement. They are used to insert the appropriate information when an agreement is generated.

## Set a Default Agreement Template

You can designate a template as your default for new agreements.

1. Open the template in the editor.
2. Enable **Set as default template**.
3. Select **Save Template**.

The default template provides a starting point when generating agreements.

## Preview Your Agreement

Before using an agreement template, review its appearance and content.

1. Open the template in the editor.
2. Select **Preview**.
3. Review the agreement layout, wording, and placeholders.
4. Return to the editor to make any necessary changes.
5. Save your template.

You can also access **Preview Agreement** from the main Templates & Agreements settings screen.

> [!TIP]
>
> Preview your agreement after making significant changes, especially when adding placeholders or modifying legal language.

## Before Sending Your First Agreement

We recommend checking the following:

* Your inspection scope and limitations are accurate.
* Cancellation and rescheduling policies reflect your business practices.
* Payment terms are configured.
* Legal and signature provisions have been reviewed.
* Your agreement template includes the appropriate placeholders.
* Your preferred template is marked as the default.
* You've previewed the completed agreement.

Once your agreement settings are configured, you can use them as part of your Work Order and scheduling workflow.

> [!WARNING]

> InspectIQ provides tools for customizing your agreements, but you remain responsible for their content. Consider having your agreement language reviewed by a qualified legal professional familiar with home inspections in your jurisdiction.
