Offline Mode lets you carry out a full inspection even when you have no mobile signal or Wi-Fi. This is especially useful in rural properties, basements, new construction sites, or any location where connectivity is unreliable. InspectIQ saves everything to your device as you work, then automatically syncs your data to the cloud the moment you reconnect to the internet — no manual steps required.
Your data is never lost. Everything you capture during an offline inspection is saved locally on your device first. Nothing is deleted or overwritten when you sync.

What Works Offline

You can do the following without any internet connection:
  • Capture and attach photos — Take photos and attach them to findings or area summaries as normal.
  • Add and edit findings — Record defects, observations, and notes across all inspection areas.
  • Record area overviews — Write summaries and rate the condition of each area.
  • Complete inspections — Mark an inspection as complete and finalize your findings.
  • Review previous work orders — Access any work order you downloaded before going offline.

What Requires an Internet Connection

Some features rely on InspectIQ’s servers and are not available offline:
  • Sending reports — Report delivery (email, SMS, online link) requires an active connection.
  • Processing payments — Online payments cannot be initiated or confirmed without internet.
  • AI-generated findings — InspectIQ’s AI writing assistance requires a connection to generate suggested finding text.
  • Creating new work orders — New jobs must be created while online so they sync to your account.

Prepare for an Offline Inspection

The key to a smooth offline inspection is preparation. Download your work order before you leave for the property.

Connect to Wi-Fi before you leave

Open InspectIQ while you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network — ideally before you head to the property.

Open the work order

Navigate to the job in your Jobs list and tap to open it.

Download for offline use

Tap the More menu (three dots) and select Download for Offline Use. InspectIQ downloads the work order, client details, and any existing data to your device.

Confirm download

A green checkmark or Available Offline badge will appear on the work order in your jobs list. You’re ready to inspect without a connection.
Always download your work orders at home or on office Wi-Fi the evening before a busy inspection day. This ensures everything is ready even if you can’t get a signal at the property.

How Syncing Works When You Reconnect

When your device reconnects to the internet — whether you join a Wi-Fi network or your mobile signal returns — InspectIQ automatically detects the connection and begins syncing your offline data in the background. You don’t need to do anything. The sync process:
  1. Uploads all new and edited findings from your device to the cloud.
  2. Uploads all photos captured during the offline session.
  3. Updates the work order status across all your devices.
  4. Clears the Pending Sync indicator once everything is uploaded.
If you have multiple devices (for example, a phone and a tablet), all changes appear on every device once the sync is complete.
Do not close the InspectIQ app while a sync is in progress. Closing the app mid-sync can interrupt the upload and leave some data in a pending state. Wait until the Syncing… indicator disappears before closing the app.

Check Your Sync Status

You can check whether all your data has synced successfully at any time:

Open the app menu

Tap the Menu icon or your profile avatar in the top corner of the app.

Tap Sync Status

Select Sync Status from the menu. This screen shows:
  • Whether your device is currently online or offline
  • Any items waiting to be uploaded (Pending Sync)
  • A log of recently synced items
  • The date and time of the last successful sync

Trigger a manual sync (if needed)

If the automatic sync hasn’t started, tap Sync Now to trigger it manually. This is useful if you’ve just moved from an offline area to a connected area and want to sync immediately.
