An inspection agreement is the contract between you and your client that sets out the scope of the inspection, your liability terms, and the fee. Having a signed agreement in place before you start work protects both you and your client and helps avoid disputes after the report is delivered. InspectIQ makes the whole process digital — you can attach a template, send the agreement for e-signature via email or SMS, and track whether your client has signed, all from within the work order.
E-signatures collected through InspectIQ are legally binding in Australia under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 and equivalent state legislation. Each signed agreement is timestamped and linked to the signatory’s verified email address or phone number, creating a clear audit trail.

Attach an Agreement Template to a Work Order

1

Open the work order

Navigate to the relevant work order from your dashboard. The Agreements section appears below the client and property details.
2

Choose an agreement template

Tap Attach Agreement and select a template from your saved templates list. If you haven’t set up any templates yet, go to Business Settings > Agreement Templates to upload or create one. You can maintain separate templates for different inspection types — for example, a standard building inspection agreement and a separate combined building & pest template.
3

Review and customise (optional)

InspectIQ pre-fills the agreement with your client’s name, the property address, the inspection type, and the scheduled date from the work order. Review the populated agreement and make any one-off adjustments before sending if needed.
4

Send the agreement for e-signature

Tap Send for Signature and choose your delivery method — Email, SMS, or Both. Your client receives a link that opens the agreement in their browser. They can read the full document and sign with a finger or stylus on mobile, or with a mouse on desktop. No app download is required on their end.
5

Track the signature status

Return to the work order at any time to check the agreement status badge:
  • Sent — The link has been delivered but the client hasn’t signed yet.
  • Viewed — The client has opened the agreement.
  • Signed — The client has completed the e-signature. The work order is ready to progress.
If your client hasn’t signed close to the inspection date, tap Resend to send them a reminder with a fresh link.
6

View and download the signed agreement

Once the status shows Signed, tap View Agreement to open the completed document. Tap Download PDF to save a copy for your records. Signed agreements are also stored permanently against the work order in InspectIQ so you can retrieve them at any time.
Do not begin an inspection until the client’s agreement status shows Signed. Starting work without a signed agreement may compromise your legal protection if a dispute arises after the report is delivered. If a client is on-site and hasn’t signed yet, you can send the SMS link and ask them to sign on the spot before you commence.
Save yourself a step on every job by setting a default agreement template in Business Settings > Agreement Templates. When a default is configured, InspectIQ automatically attaches it to every new work order, so you only need to tap Send for Signature rather than selecting the template each time.
