Work Orders are where every inspection begins in InspectIQ. A Work Order brings together the essential details of an upcoming inspection, including client information, the property address, services and pricing, scheduling, inspector assignments, and inspection agreements. Instead of managing these details across emails, spreadsheets, and multiple systems, InspectIQ provides one central location to organize the process from initial booking through to inspection creation.

Understanding Work Orders

A Work Order manages the administrative and scheduling side of an inspection. An Inspection is where the inspector performs the actual inspection, captures photos, documents findings, and prepares the report. These are connected workflows, but they serve different purposes.
Think of a Work Order as the preparation and booking process, while the Inspection is where the actual work gets done.

How the Work Order Process Works

InspectIQ guides you through the steps needed to prepare, schedule, and confirm an inspection.
1

Create a Work Order

Start by entering the client’s contact information, property address, inspection services, and applicable pricing details.
2

Assign an Inspector

If you’re using InspectIQ’s Team edition, assign the Work Order to the appropriate inspector. For individual inspectors, this additional assignment step isn’t necessary.
3

Schedule the Inspection

Choose how you’d like to schedule the appointment:
  • Send Date & Time Options — Provide available appointment options for your client to select.
  • Choose Date & Time Myself — Select the inspection appointment directly.
4

Generate the Inspection Agreement

Prepare the inspection agreement using your configured agreement template and the information associated with the Work Order.
5

Collect Signatures

Complete the agreement signing process:
  1. The client reviews and signs the agreement.
  2. The inspector signs the agreement.
The signed agreement remains associated with the inspection.
6

Inspection Created

Once the required scheduling and agreement steps are completed, InspectIQ creates the associated Inspection. The inspector can then access the Inspection to begin preparing for the appointment.

Work Orders vs. Inspection Statuses

It’s important to understand the distinction between managing a Work Order and tracking the progress of an Inspection.

Work Orders

Work Orders help you organize the steps leading up to an inspection, including:
  • Client and property information
  • Inspection services and pricing
  • Inspector assignment, when applicable
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Inspection agreements and signatures

Inspections

Once an Inspection has been created, its progress is tracked separately.
Inspection statuses should not be confused with Work Order scheduling and agreement progress.

What You Can Do with Work Orders

Keeping Your Inspections Organized

The Work Orders section gives you a central place to manage upcoming inspection bookings and their related information. By keeping client details, scheduling, services, and agreements connected, InspectIQ helps reduce administrative work and makes it easier to move from booking an inspection to performing one.
Before arriving at a property, confirm that the appointment details are correct and the required inspection agreement has been signed.
